COACH TRAINING

Parents of 5th grader or older:

 NICA Coach Training

  Step 1- Email swtrailhawks@gmail.com

     ask to be added to our NICA team for Coach Training. 

Step 2- You will receive a welcome email. 

  Create an account and begin Level 1 Training.

  All first year coaches are level 1 for the first year.

Anticipated Cost:

Background Check- $42

Step 3- complete the courses. A green check will indicate you have completed each step.  Be sure to download your NICA Coaching License.

NOTE: You are not covered by the NICA insurance policy for  any non-NICA event. You are covered under Triangle Youth Cycling .

Parents of K-4th Grade:

We encourage you to complete NICA Coach Level 1 training, especially 4th graders who may want to race next year. It is a valuable training and has been created specifically for the cycling community. 

If you are confident your child won't be racing, go through the below steps.

Step 1 - Background Check $35*

Go to https://app.ncsisafe.com/wake-youth-mountain-biking-inc/complete to get started.  Wake Youth Mountain Biking, Inc is our incorporated name.  We will get a notification once it is complete.  It can take a few days.

Step 2 - Safe Sport Training $20*

Sign up for a SafeSport account.

• Name of Sport or Community Organization : Wake Youth Mountain Biking, Inc

You will need to do for the "SafeSport Trained - Not Affiliated - CS" course.  Be sure to download your completion certificate.

Step 3 - CDC Concussion training

Go to https://www.train.org/cdctrain/course/1089818/details to get started. Create an account then start the preassessment. Be sure to download your completion certificate.

ALL 5th grade and older parents should use NICA training-  NO decisions about racing need to be made until March.

However, we require Coach training to ride now.

While your child may not want to race now, IF he/she decides they want to race, the TYC option will NOT transfer. You will have to complete the NICA coach training and pay fees to ride at NICA events.
